International Vintage Boating Day

21 Aug 2021 (All Day)
Event Details

International Vintage Boating Day celebrates our ability to share on-water experiences under extraordinary circumstances as well as the value of strong relationships within the vintage boating community.

Learning to navigate is a key boating skill, and as boaters, we must always look ahead, pay attention to our environment, and adjust course as necessary. We have recently learned that our use of a stylized Inukshuk in the event logo was inappropriate, and we regret any unintended offense its use may have caused.

We hope your group will join in on August 21. We’d appreciate it if you’d share your stories and photos after the event to share in Classicboat, Classicboat Connection, the Rudder, and other boating publications as well as on social media.

Please contact vintageboatingday@acbs.ca for further information or to share your plans.

Gloucester Pool – Contact Scott Dunsmoor

This slow-paced cruise will begin in Little Go Home Bay, head around into Whites Bay, past the mouth of the channel to Big Chute and down the Trent-Severn Waterway System, through The Narrows into Little Lake and returning via the Back Channel. Assemble by 10:30 a.m. or join enroute.

Led by ACBS-Toronto Membership Director, Scott Dunsmoor in The Traveller, we will be leaving from the Dunsmoor cottage in Little Go Home Bay and heading around into Whites Bay, past the mouth of the channel to Big Chute, and down the Trent-Severn waterway system. We will travel through The Narrows into Little Lake and returning via the Back Channel along the southern shoreline to the end of Little Go Home Bay, returning to the area of the Dunsmoor cottage and dispersing from there.

Boaters are welcome to join us as we pass by your place, or you can moor in front of the Dunsmoor cottage and start from there. If you are early, feel free to pull into the Dunsmoor docks before we start. The cruise will be a slow leisurely pace leaving at 10:30 a.m. No plans have been established for the conclusion of the event; however, we will forward any additional updates as they become available.

Join us, weather permitting, to cruise the lake in the morning, with an aim to boat past the south shore of Bigwin Island and arrive at Port Cunnington Lodge at noon to enjoy an outdoor box lunch on the grounds. Docking space is available at Port Cunnington. This will be a wonderful opportunity to catch up with friends who we have missed seeing over the past few years.

Box lunches ($18.95, plus tax) must be PRE-ORDERED by Wednesday, August 18. Contact Port Cunnington Lodge directly, at 705-635-2505, to pre-order your box lunch. There will be a few picnic tables and Muskoka chairs on the grounds; however, if you can, bring a fold up lawn chair with you to ensure everyone has seating.

If possible, please consider donating to the Winter Pantry, which services people from Baysville to Dorset. Donations may be made by e-transfer to: treasurer810@gmail.com. All donations over $20 will be issued a tax receipt.
