100 mile cruise 2016 August 20, 2016. The Muskoka steam Ships decided to celebrate 150years of the Wenona by going on the 100 mile cruise and ask the ACBS to tag along. Both the Wenona and the Segwun were sold out.
The day was perfect for the event sun was up and the wind stayed away. Only a few boats met the ships in Gravenhurst though as they cruised north to Port Carling many more joined in. But the time they hit the locks folks lined the locks to wish them a good trip on to Lake Rosseau and Lake Joe. A band was on hand to play the ships through the locks and entertain the onlookers. A fun day was had as the ships steadily cruised up to the swing bridge in Port Sandfield cheered on by more onlookers and then all the way up to the top of Lake Joe. By 230 in the afternoon they reached the half way point of their trip before turning around to head back home. The smaller historic craft still cruised alongside but slowly dispersed as the comfort level in the small boats is not quite the same the ships.
This was another successful cruise and a fun way to get out in your classic boat for a memorable day on the water.
