Gravenhurst Boatshow
The Muskoka Wharf was once again the site of this years Classic Boat Show. Our theme, Celebrating the year of the outboard, turn out to generate a lot of excitement. Our team of pre-event planers, 3 of whom are great outboard enthusiasts (Patrick Wren, Ken Kirk, Doug Robbie and Rick Terry) gave us a year of entertainment, knowledge and brought the everyday boat to the forefront. The year had great articles in our beloved Classicboat magazine, the work shops talked about the motors and then the big event, the boat show.
The Show this year was held on July 7, 07. The weather was outstanding for the show, sunny with some clouds to keep it from getting to hot. The show was supported with the help of the antique outboard club, they brought a huge collection of motors and displayed them under a large tent in the sports field which showed the evolution of the motor that has brought affordable boating to many families over the years. There was also land displays of many outboards from cedar strips the hydro racers. This was also the area for the field of dreams.
The docks were full with over 110 boats in water. The action continued in the bay with a classic water ski show, and a few outboard race boats challenging each other in a few sprints.
The venders were busy as we had one of our largest attendances seen at the show. The outboard owners of the club are large more then 50% of members have one, and it is obvious from the numbers that the excitement is still high for these fun little boats.
This show Continues to be a volunteer run event from planning to the day of the event. We need over 70 volunteers on the day of the event. With out there help we would never be able to have the show. Many many thanks to all who help. Please consider this and come out and meet some of the best people around
You can see more photos in the Photo section and the results of the judging are in the Boat Show section.
