September 9, 2006, was Boat Show weekend for the Niagara Frontier Chapter. This show is one of a kind. The Chapter holds there show in conjunction with the APBAs Vintage race boat regatta. This gives you twice as many boats to see.
The docking is set behind a large concrete pier. This gives the spectators a great vantage point for the fly bys. The site is also the location of the oldest boating club in North America, the Buffalo launch club. With this outstanding site and with a great variety of boats you can see it makes for a special show.
The day long event is full of vendors and land displays. They even have a vintage car show on the grounds. Captain Jim Shotwell was also their with his kit boats, trying to encourage young boaters to embrace our pastime.
This year the Century Marquee club came to the show with a large contingent. The Centurys were well represented. Another guest was Ken Warby, He is the fastest man on water. He and his boat Aussie sprite were on hand. His record of 314 mph was set back in 1980 and has not been challenged.
If your up for a drive to the area its always worth the trip.
