July 22, 2006 was the date of the Clear Lake/ Stoney Lake Rendezvous.
Thanks to the efforts of Prior Smith and Chris Cragg the day was great FUN. We started out with cloudy skies and the chance of rain. This was a good start as the clouds shaded us from the sun. We had a great turn out of boats and over 60 participants. The morning run up Clear Lake gave us all a chance to get a lot of pictures and run together with all these great boats. A lot of cedar strip boats attended this trip which was great to see. As well the group included a Shepard, Grew, three Seabirds and a Greavette. There was also a nice launch that we never did get the make of. He was local to Stoney Lake.
Lunch was on Priors lawn with drinks served two cottages away. The well stocked bar was built into the boathouse providing a great atmosphere. Prior had set up the food of salads, buns and cold cuts in the smaller boats and canoes of his collection. It made for a very creative presentation.
After lunch when the guides boat had trouble, the group proceed up the lake in smaller flotillas. After a trip up the other side of Stoney lake and back and the day was done. We had a great time meeting every one at lunch and made some new friends providing transportation for 3 others.
We Look forward to the next rendezvous at Gloucester Pool and the Trent, Scott and Tim Have been working hard to provide us with a day that all will enjoy. |
