My name is Matthew Sargeant and I have some thing that has been in my families possession for a long time. My father and I have traced the boat back to Kenora ( Lake of the Woods museum ) with a photograph that was in Canadian Geographic. It has been the only thing that has come close to the workman ship that compares to our boat(ie. the shape and length of bow, shape and style of hull, and shape and style of stern) But i still do not know if it is one for sure. I am from the Ottawa area and no one around here has ever heard of the stone boat building company or seen anything like our boat.(The guy from Manotic) I was just wondering if you have any info on the stone boat building company and if you might be interested in finding out more about this boat, and if any one in your organization has one!
Cheers! Matthew Sargeant.
p.s. It is 24 feet long and is made out of cedar. We believe that it is either pre- 1900's or very early 1900's the boat has been in storage since. the 30's no Joke!
Here are some pics of our boat. Notice the flag pole is at the front in one of the pictures(pic 40), and there is a intake on where the engine compartment is(pic 44). There is also a red maker light on starboard side. Let me know if you get any hits on it. It is not for sale and hopefully never will be :) But I am very interested in finding out as much as I can about this boat, and very thankful for your interest and help! I'll also forward you some pictures of the boat that is the closest thing that we have seen to our boat. These pictures are from the early 1900's.
Thanks again
