   1939 Peterborough Ambassador

  • A deluxe, classic and rare 16 ft. Peterborough cedar strip. A Diamond Jubilee Year 60th Anniversary model. Fully restored nine years ago and a regular at boat shows, its been treated with tender loving care and boat-house stored. This is the only one we know of thats survived and in show condition. Given the unique design and cost of production, very few were built. Unlike any other cedar strip, the Ambassador features mahogany decking complete with rolled covering boards from front to back. In terms of historical significance, the boat was purchased new by Glen Orchard (after whom a community in Muskoka was named) and most of its life was spent in the Orchard family on the Little Joe River in Muskoka. The smoothest running cedar strip on the water. Ive powered it with several mid 50s Johnson engines&.its a real head turner when outfitted with a 57 Johnson Javelin. A vast majority of the boat is original wood. Complete with original Peterborough number plate. Comes with early Brydon Boy steering wheel, electrical wiring, engine controls and cables and custom seat cuhsions. Boat alone: $10,500.    Dual Cockpit Mahogany Runabout model

  • Dual Cockpit Mahogany Runabout This boat is reminiscent of the Classic's built in the late 40's, early 50's. This unique creation is completely scratchbuilt of original "old growth" Mahogany saved from cabin of a vintage Grew being scrapped! With 7 coats of Marine varnish, the high gloss finish brings out the natural beauty of this wood. The seats and coaming are upholstered in green matching the bottom colour. The Banjo wheel is replicated as are the dash instruments and shift lever. (which operates the running lights) All deck hardware is typical of that era and is custom cast with a polished finish. The windshield is shatterproof Acrylic. Powered by a single cylinder, 2 stroke, water cooled 18cc gasoline motor. The muffled exhaust and cooling water exit the transom through a brass port. The electonics are in a sealed compartment under the removeable rear seat. Steering and throttle are controlled by radio which has a failsafe system and battery monitor. Built by a Canadian craftsman, it took over 200 hours to complete. Measuring 55" LOA, with a 20" beam , it runs and handles very realistically on the water. A beautiful miniature, which would be equally at home on display or as an operating model. email for more photos. Shipping or delivery can be arranged. - $inquire

   1929 Chriscraft custom runabout

  • Walter P. Chrysler bought a 28foot Chris Craft custom runabout in 1929. Chrysler's second in command, K.T. Keller, was taken with his bosses' boat and in 1933 ordered his own 28 footer. While all the 28ft. runabouts were custom built, Keller's was very custom. He insisted on twin Chrysler Crown engines and thus was built hull number 3172. The depression had been particularly difficult for Chris Craft resulting in left over model no. 214/216 hull components from 1931. Using these components and modifying the engine beds to accommodate the twin engines, Chris Craft delivered Keller's one off in September 1933. An avid fisherman, Keller had the engines modified by the Chrysler engineers to allow for extended periods of slow trolling speed. Chrysler Marine Division expert John Barts remembers the boat well, as he maintained the engines for Keller who kept the boat on the St. Clair River in Michigan. By 1949, Keller was President of Chrysler Motor Co. and the in house engineers thought they would surprise Keller and update his, by now 26 year old speedboat. They replaced the engines with new model Chrysler Crowns, and modified the deck layout aft of the windshield to provide a walkway between the engines and a larger rear cockpit. Along with these changes the engineers had, tongue in cheek, renamed the boat RELLEK which is of course Keller spelled backwards and provided a new steering wheel and hub with this name in brass letters. The boat currently carries this wheel and hub proudly showing her heritage. Combined with this wheel is a twin engine instrument panel and twin CLUM switches making for a distinctive and unique cockpit. John Barts said Keller did not like the changes and in 1956 the boat was sold to Peter McLean of Windsor Ontario. McLean sold the boat in 1966 to William Wilms of the Windsor area who again updated the boat. The twin engines were removed. An additional set of engine beds were installed, the original twin shaft holes were blocked and a single 413 C.I. Chrysler V8 engine fitted. The boat did not see a lot of use from this point on and was purchased by Jack Davidson from the then 93 year old Wilms in 1991. Subject of a major rebuild through the 1990's "RELLEK" was again launched in October 2002 for a late end of season ride. Fitted with 2, 318 C.I. Chrysler V8 engines she performed beautifully, justifying the countless hours and dollars expended in her restoration. - $inquire

   1955 38' Corsair Chris Craft

  • In 2003, an ad in Boats for Sale caught my attention and resulted in purchasing and storing a 1955 38 Corsair. Being lover of wooden boats and having restored several Chris Crafts, this boat had to be saved even though I was in the middle of a restoration project at that time. The boat began her life from Chris's Holland plant and sold through a dealer in Sturgeon Bay Wisconsin in 1955. In 1998, a Georgian Bay in Lake Huron marina operator bought the boat in Cleveland and the boat, under her own power, made the trip to Parry Sound Ontario . The new owner began a major restoration project at his facility using skilled shipwrights and by 2002 had respectfully disassembled all hardware, removed the engines and tanks to facilitate a proper restoration project. The hull and bottom has been taken back to bare wood and the bottom seams professionally reamed in preparation for new caulking. The deck was removed and supporting structures replaced. The transom was completely rebuilt and the result shows the skill involved. The project now well underway was halted when the owner found a new project and decided to either sell the boat as a work in process or sell the hardware and have the vessel destroyed. I could not let that happen and as a result am now the owner of a partially restored 19955 38 Corsair. The boat was lifted aboard a mariner hauler and transported to inside storage near Toronto Ontario . The Corsair became my fifth boat! The boat provides a rare chance to restart the restoration having the "dirty work" behind and the more enjoyable part of the project ahead. There is a lot to be done but to obtain a project this far along, the end is in sight not to mention the cost savings of the work already completed. The boat is ready to be loaded aboard a hauler and moved to another shop for completion. I would like to recover the $6000 that has been spent to purchase and move the boat but I am more interested in finding that individual or group that will finish the project. There are many photographs of the boat before the projected started as well as others documenting the work. In addition, there is documentation from the Mariners Museum . - $inquire

   1951 29' Chris Craft

  • 1951 29' Chris Craft Super Deluxe Semi-enclosed Cruiser I've gotten to a stage where I can't finish the restoration of my boat and would like/hope that someone else could pick up where I've left off and complete her. Frankly, another winter's work would put her in the water for next season. I'd like to recoop some of my investment obviously and am open to reasonable offers. (I have a complete photo history) and here are some details on the vessel: twin engines, 145hp hercules, both professionally rebuilt at a cost of $16,000 all bad wood replaced - foredeck and top couple planks on port/starboard sides at the bow, and backrest of stern seat (this work was performed with the assistance of a professional shipwright). hull refastened. interior of hull cleaned and repainted, including all removable items, e.g. side panels, seats, etc. chrome pieces re-chromed, professionally (approx $6000). Bright work and hull repainting begun This model is fairly rare. I have hull numer 21 of I think about 23 in that year ( I have the information on the boat from Mariner's Museum re intitial build ticket, etc.). It's a nice looking boat and would make a great day boat (I live in the Kingston area and hoped to use her for 100O Island cruising and the Rideau System for day/weekending jaunts). - $inquire

  • 1957 Ski-Bee. 16ft. long. with a 62hp, with 4 cylinders , We had a 56 and the only difference is that Shepherd moved the gas tank to the bow in the 57. It made for better performance with the weight up front. The motor runs great and we added an electric fuel pump for ease of starting and it allows you to run the fuel lower. In the old days, if you had a low tank and took off you would run out of gas because of the angle. There is a fitted cover for it and the trailer is 64 Teen. The hull and decks were done 4 years ago and they are solid. There is no dry wrought anywhere. - $19,995.00
